About Singapore Stories
Organised by Singapore Fashion Council, Singapore Stories is an initiative that invites fashion designers to showcase their craft and personal interpretations around a Singapore-inspired theme. It embodies SFC’s mission to promote, support, and develop the local fashion industry.
The theme for 2023 - Kebaya Re-imagined - lets designers engage and explore this iconic regional garment - envisioning the future of the kebaya and its place through innovative or sustainable fashion.
Coinciding with the re-opening of the Peranakan Museum, as well as NHB's multinational nomination to inscribe “Kebaya: Knowledge, Skills, Traditions and Practices” on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity in end March 2023, Singapore Stories is of the moment - marrying future fashion with reflection and celebration of this unique cultural heritage!
